A few WIP art pieces I did on my surf trip

I just got back from the best surf trip of my life to the islands off the coast of West Sumatra (the Mentawais.) It was UNREAL! We've had an abysmal summer for surf here on Maui (pretty normal for Maui), so most surfers on Maui try to get out of here during the summer.

While in Indonesia, I had quite a bit of time to do some drawing, reading, relaxing. Here are 2 completed pieces and one work in progress.

I used the little black scratchboards for the 2 completed artworks. This one took me the better part of 4 hours.

This piece is taking FOREVER, but it's fun. I tend to make the mistake of starting on the area of a drawing I like the most, then I lose interest. I'm beginning to enjoy the tentacles, but it's taking awhile. Colored pencil on brown paper.

Here you can see the amazing views I had from the boat. This spot is in the middle of nowhere with some really good surf. Busted my ribs at the end of the trip, so I got some time to draw here.

This one was quick. I did it in less than 2 hours.
