As soon as I saw the bright red, I thought about short skirts, corsets, beads and fringe; hair bobs and jazz. And then my mind wandered to Chicago - probably one of my ultimate favorite musicals on the planet!

...I immediately thought of some sexy legs and a cute little garter belt.

I love it!! So classy! Good morning :) So I have a question after all, or more of a request. Since it's the 10th week/weekend of the open-mic contest I thought the community could show these musicians some love by promoting it? Resteeming the contest post would be great because their goal is for the burden of pay to be taken off of pfunk by getting enough recognition it pays for itself. I'm also going to put on some upbeat jazzy songs by my awesome brother through the weekend and shout out the contest with them. What do you think?

I know with the latest hardfork the witness pay has been quite affected and they have to pick and choose their projects, support and initiatives now. @pfunk and @luzcypher have been amazingly supportive of the music community here and I'm thrilled to see so many participants. But the monetary thing is kind of a sticky wicket. If it were me running it, I'd probably omit monetary prizes altogether and opt instead to award prize banners and post promotion. But I'm not running it so...
As a content creator, the option to help keep the monetary prizes going is by creating your post, selecting 50/50 post reward and donating your 24 hour earnings to the prize fund. Then those donations qualify you for consideration in the pool. People might be more receptive to the latter because we love games of chance. Then there is also a sense of "ownership" to a cause because you've invested you time, talent and funds toward the greater good.

Does it affect people negatively to resteem posts if they don't do well? I've noticed on some pages almost all of the content is resteemed, on others you never see it. As a result I find myself selective about it, but I don't really know what it does or doesn't do. Other than giving the content creator more exposure that is. Another question about it, if you resteem does it go back into the category of new?

"Does it go back into the category of new?" That is a very good question! I do not have a definitive answer about that one. I know when someone resteems one of my posts it does show up on the home feed, which is the people you are personally following, but only if you are following them. But I've also seen it pop up in the NEW tab, which now makes me wonder if the NEW tab is inclusive of resteems as well as actual new content. Hmm... I may have to ask my go-to guy on questions like that @timcliff
I might not be the person to ask about resteems. LOL I think it is a powerful tool to help promote something. I think it is also widely abused and can give the impression of being spammy. I miss out on a lot of challenges because they might require a resteem to qualify for a giveaway. Sometimes I play anyway and let them know I'm not resteeming - but more often than not I share it on Twitter or Facebook.
When I curate content and look for new people to follow I definitely hesitate when I have to scroll through a ton of resteems to find THEIR work. In the FF post, I admit I might be a blog snob. LOL

Oh, I'm the same. I don't mind if I see one or two, but if most of the page is resteems it gives the impression that's more of what they do. Although to be fair, that might be what some people do, they might not feel they have something to share other than finding the posts they find most interesting.
