The metamorphosis of the car Ichwan Noor (art)

The original forms as family vehicles are decoded into geometric shapes, challenging the very notion of the reality of objects through the interaction between the organic and the technological.

This project artist Ichwan Noor called 'Beetle sphere' takes the notion of the original curves of our beloved and adored 'Beetle' Volkswagen (the people's car) to the end of the plastic barriers visually acceptable by the human eye. At first there is a strength to understand what is really going on and especially how the artist managed to design a flawless finish sculptures, though, a second visual assessment, these sculptures appear only dented vehicles ...

In fact, the artist is redefining the object in question several inconceivable ways to look but to refer to the car's original format itself, a cylindrical shape, spherical, metal and easily recognizable because it is a popular vehicle and internationally manufactured in its original form. It collectors item and 'Beetle' with unique, even though its original draft was made by none other than Adolf Hitler, depending on the year of manufacture, can cost a fortune in the hands of these 'nostalgic maniacs' to have been manufactured in mass for more than 41 years with minimal changes to the original. These collectors would be very angry the first time I saw such sculptures and certainly the artist could be in danger of being attacked by one of them!

The artistic process is to metamorphose the unique and original lines of the car in a sphere composed of original parts and other components manufactured by the artist that in his circle of friends is known as 'The Maker' by helping other artists with their experience as if it were a mentor. The damage is avoided by making a spherical replica polyethylene some original parts and then finished in aluminum. The interior has been shaped and then worked with the circular exterior. The end result is compiled by adding original parts not buckle the car to give the notion of authenticity to work.

This series has other examples, all reflect the marriage concept of organic, natural forms, fluid and heavy metals produced and manipulated by man. Here the interaction between human or animal forms are supported or mixed with traditional technologies such as welding. The end result is a polymorph of the original psychedelic vehicle functions and a unique visual experience.

Ichwan Noor is an artist of Indonesia graduate in Visual Arts from the 'School of Visual Art' of Indonesia in the city where he lives Yogyakarta. He is a professor of 'Fine Arts' at the University of Yogyakarta. Its preferred working material is brass, aluminum and resin. Its production process includes quite welding and modeling.

It is worth visiting his site and even more dazzled by his other works are also very creative and impactful as always question the very notion of what is real through art.Ichwan Noor
