girl in tub - Original Artwork (Work in Progress + Process Video)

There's something really relaxing about doing artwork for yourself. For some reason, I don't seem to do that often. Ever since I've joined steemit, I've switched to only making art to enter into contests. Which don't get my wrong, I love! (P.s. I just started my first contest and the last day to enter is tomorrow!) Participating in art contest on steemit is what has really helped me stay motivated to continue making art these past hectic months. But then again, I was always following certain guidelines and putting a lot of pressure on myself to make exactly what I envisioned.

These past couple days have been so refreshing! I scrolled through my feed on unsplash and found a picture that I wanted to draw.

Then I just started.

Without any guidelines or idea on what I wanted to make, I just kept making art. And it felt so good! I really love just throwing colors down without any blending. It doesn't help make the subject any more realistic, but to me that doesn't really matter. When I make art for myself, it's messy and uneven, but that's why I love it so much. Not having to worry about any one critiquing you just makes the process more enjoyable. I'm not making this piece to show it off or sell it or hang it in my wall. I was making it because it made me happy and lost in my own world.

I recorded the whole process and sped it up x30 faster. As I was watching it back, it has already begun to help me reflect on my artistic choices. Having a video that shows my whole process is helping me become a better artist because I can see my work in action and see my thought process through the whole thing. Since this is my go to place to share my life, I thought I'd leave these thoughts here to later reflect on.

I love digital art because the paint never dries.

To be honest, I'm not too sure if I'll ever be completely done with this piece. But that's okay.

I can go back whenever I want and touch up things that I didnt before. Or just go back to take my mind of things and sink deeper into the tub.

This is an interesting perspective on digital art.

I love the way you have done the shadow of the candle stand and towels.

I appreciate you pointing that out, I feel like I was able to get that point across well :)

Woah this is awesome! Well done :) How long about did this take you?

So far, I've spent over 10 hours on it, but thats probably because I like to take my time drawing it and I dont use "shortcuts" that other digital artists tend to( like masks and tons of layers). Thanks for your support :)
