Hello world!

In lieu of an upcoming project, I have decided to practice my Rick and Morty drawing skills. This piece is half way done, as I will be adding @g0nr0gue and myself to the mural.

I forgot to take screenshots in the very beginning of the project, but here is the progress I managed to capture:

I view images to get the feel of what I’m drawing. The above image is what I used to reference the characters.

I started with a basic sketch of shapes for Morty. I traced his weapon to save some time. I used multiple layers to get the sketch perfected and then cleaned up the overlapping lines. Next, the merging of those layers and filling in with color.

Now it’s Ricks turn! Again I began with basic shapes and proceeded to perfect the outline of his head.

Once I was happy with the face, I outlined the sketch of his body.

Again, perfecting lines and reshaping areas into proportion.

Rick needs a whopping Ledger Nano S (crypto hardware wallet) as his weapon! Let’s draw that. I originally drew this over the shape of the big gun he’s holding in my reference photo. I did this to get a good idea of the size and shape I would be using for the Ledger. I used the same process of drawing a sketch and completing it by drawing it in the final layer. I then moved the Ledger layer into position on my Rick drawing like so.

Okay! That looks great. Now it’s time to erase lines that don’t belong and fill him with color bringing us to the final piece featured here.
