There are power lifters in this world who use fake weights and muscle implants, for views. The moment they get exposed, everything they accomplished, is done. There are fakes in instagram who buy followers and pretend to be famous. They always get found out, and as soon as that happens, the curtain closes. What I do here can go far beyond this platform and one misstep is all it takes. One person saying, "You faked it," regardless of how I could explain it, means it's game over, because I'd always be known as a fraud. It's not worth the risk.
As for what blogging is. This whole "quality content blogging" nonsense is just a way for those without the ability to create something of their own to follow a template and succeed at being everyone else. Just look at vlogging for instance. When do we see someone turn the camera around and show us the world they live in? It's always a talking head combined with the opinion of the day. I have nothing against that, but it's those who turn the camera the other way and do something new instead of making it all about them that end up taking off, going places, while the rest just follow the herd, finding success in the moment, that eventually leads nowhere. @meesterboom and even myself on occasion are two examples of blogger who bend the rules and find some measure of success reinventing the concept of what blogging can be. The approach is often misunderstood and in my case, sometimes I even take flak for it, but I don't really care. Just doing my own thing. Sorry for the rambling.
Please ramble on.
I'm pretty much out of touch with the this modern world no matter how hard i try. For example i have recently been shooting these super dense photos of my local marina cramming as many masts, lines, ropes, palm trees, and kitchen sinks into them as possible. I feel great about it when i'm there doing it and great editing them then i post a few and spend weeks trying to come up with something to say about it. Basically an explanation/justification of why it's worthwhile. It's really insane. I get completely lost in thinking. Then i comment somewhere and the whole engagement failure process starts over. one of my recurring fantasies is an old fashioned one at best and it usually is seeing a group of my photos or paintings on the walls of gallery or museum. 20 or 30 or so. Then 6 months later a new batch... A book is a great idea too.
Well there ya go. Thank you for doing what you do. And having mercy with nut jobs like me.
