4 Year Difference, A lesson in improving your art. ART DUMP

in art •  7 years ago

I come to you today with some words of advice. I know there are lots of aspiring artists out there and tons of them feel so down by their quality of work. This is silly!!! Everyone starts off at the bottom, everyone. It takes years and years of hard work to accomplish what you want to accomplish.

It starts with a single step, or that of a single stroke. Where do your goals lye? Do you want to work for a big company? Do you want to publish your own comic? You have to work towards those goals everyday. Is your anatomy off, well then practice it! And practice and practice!

It takes so many hours to master something... I know Im way off but everyday I try and learn something new. Everyday I try and challenge myself. If its too easy then don't do it! But sometimes its nice to relax and draw what you like to draw, especially if its your own characters.

I started off really shaky and I couldn't land a job if I tried but now I have a few contracts going with a few different companies and I STILL make sure that I keep up with my studies, my commissions, and my personal work! I am ALWAYS busy.

There is no excuse for people who say " I have artists block ". There is a plethora of things to be drawn. even the things on your desk can be illustrated. Light and shadow to be studied, human figure, clothing, atmospheric effects. color theory facial expressions beasts animals abstract... I can go on and on. The thing is that there is TOO much to draw sometimes, and too little time.

Bottom line if you want to improve just get out there and get creating, get studying and put in the hours.

The results will come :).

Thanks bro!!! XD Yea Im just gonna keep on posting and pushing and hopefully something good happens one day :)

Sometimes the endless possibilities is too much, and a few restrictions actually make it easier to come up with a image. I have tried things like writing a bunch of words, a list of nouns and a separate list of adjectives and the pulling two out of a hat or some other random method... it’s one of the reasons I like challenges and contests when there’s a theme provided 😊

this is very true! =D Its always good to hone in on something. Thanks for commenting!
