I think that most creatives who are drawn to simplicity and minimalism often explore and revolve around similar subjects. Simplicity in shape and form is one of them, also the interaction of multiple shapes and subtle colours, but one that I often see is the concept of playing with light.
This is what design studio OS & OOS, run by Dutch designers Oskar Peet and Sophie Mensen, have tried to do here with these glass sculptures. They have used panes and layers of glass on a flat surface to alter the perspective. Using this overlapping method creates an unusual effect where you have an infinite number of perspectives, depending on the viewer, height, and the time of day.
Interestingly, how they've achieved this is in the way a prism affects light that passes through it. The core shape is a triangle and is self supporting, so the light bounces through multiple times. Perspective 1 is static, but Perspective 2, the second sculpture, has moving parts and reveals changes in transparency because of it. Anyway, here are a few photos of the sculptures. I will be interested to see what direction they take this series in the near future. Enjoy.
