Boat on the Waves

Something new from something old

If you saw my post City Hues yesterday you will have seen how I transformed one of my watercolour testing papers, that I tried out my colours on, into a cityscape drawing. Today I'm using a similar technique, taking one of my colour testing papers that I would have otherwise discarded and turning it into something new.

I looked at the marks and colours on the paper and straight away I thought of a seascape, the calmness of the waters leading into giant wave and then a storm. In the back of my mind I had the image of the boats in Hokusai's woodblock print 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa', to me the boats look as if they are about to be swallowed up by the looming wave.

I drew in a range of simple lines to suggest the boats and figures in them using black drawing ink and a dip pen. This image could be read as three separate boats, or as one boat along different stages of a journey.

Another small painting to go up on my board of tiny paintings and sketches!

I like it! You should join my tinyartchallenge because you're such a talent!

But I can't draw that small! I've seen some of your entries!

Well this is my absolute favorite!

The simplicity?

Perhaps everything! Can I add it to my steem gallery in my office? It's amazing

It's only tiny- it might get a little lost

I'm no CEO... a tiny painting in a tiny office...

Very creative, abstractness and intensity of this art is captivating. Resteemed :)

Wow! Thank you so much

writing art good tank you post

Thanks!

Beautiful work dear friend @opheliafu, I really like how you use this technique, simple and clean is what make it truly beautiful.
Thank you very much for feasting our looks
Have a great day

I'm working on a few more of this style of piece, but the look of simplicity can be hard to achieve! :)

Those 3 people on your painting were having fun on the wave? look so to me, haha. Thanks for sharing

Simple painting but very deep feelings.

Beautiful, thank you.

One thing I've noticed about your art is that when humans are represented, they're small and insignificant which I like. Human arrogance needs to take a chill pill on the whole methinks :)

Are you rooting for the wave in this picture? :)

Now that you mention it, I think I am! ;)

great work keep it up...
following you now and upvoted you for this post dont forget to follow back and upvote and check my recent post which is very interesting hope u will like that..
im your friendly neighbour.. :) :)

Great topic Thanks for sharing

What a great idea! Recently I came across some writing exercises I did, and now I'm wondering if I could apply the same technique, turn them into stories :)

Love it!

Why not?

I think that some of my best artwork has come from resourcefulness. I really apreciate that you work with your testing pages. It's inpiring. Keep up the good work!

It's a different way of having to think about the image you are going to create if you don't start with a blank page

That's very true. It's a good exercize for your creativity.

i like it!

Very tender

Thank you
