Red door

in art •  8 years ago  (edited)

A city draped in the veil

Of a blood red moon

Silent pathways lead the way

Only an echo for company

Polystyrene snow

Falls

In slow motion

Past crimson walls

Take the red door.

A watercolour and pencil painting, digitally altered.

I'm wrote this as I sat watching the snow dance past my window. It wasn't heavy snowflakes, more like tiny polystyrene balls that are used to fill bean bags. Watching it float past the red bricks of the houses I started to think about how delicate it would look against red walls, against red light. I remembered standing outside in the middle of the night in 2015, looking up at a lunar eclipse. It didn't bathe the buildings in red light, but I imagined how beautiful it would be if it did!
