Happy Burns Night! On January 25th we celebrate the birth of the Scottish bard Robert Burns, born in 1759. You may be familiar with his work, Auld Lang Syne is sung on New Year's Eve on the stroke of midnight.

I'm going to share with you today 'Up in the Morning Early', a poem written by the great Robert Burns. I hope you enjoy his poetry on this fine day.

I felt this was a fitting piece of work for today. It's called 'Seeing the Wood for the Trees'. I made this picture depicting my early morning walk across a misty forest landscape. I'm standing in a wooded coppice looking out through the trees to the forest in the valley below.

Acrylic paint and collage on paper

Don't forget to raise a wee dram of whiskey for Robert Burns tonight!

I really like this! It feels like I 'm standing behind a window looking out.

I wanted to represent the silhouetted trees as you look through. So it's nice you get the feeling of looking through something, as the collage trees are the frame for the view.

Goal achieved! It's perfect!

Lovely as always. Enjoy your dram my friend :D

I will do!

:D
