The curry plant

Coffee, glorious sunshine and a spot of drawing, the best way to start my day! This morning I was sat in my garden drinking my coffee next to the fragrant Helichrysum italicum, sometimes know as the curry plant. It's part of the Asteraceae daisy family, and covered in tiny buds that will soon be bursting with vibrant yellow flowers.

I used a dip pen and black ink for this set of drawings. The structure of the flower buds made for an interesting focus.

The plant produces an oil from its blossoms which is used for medicinal purposes. It is anti-inflammatory, fungicidal, and astringent. It soothes burns and raw chapped skin. It is used as a fixative in perfumes and has an intense fragrance

I love your drawings, so clever and evocative and the photos as well. Thankyou.

Glad you like them @housewhisper!

This is really cool, it reminds me of the botanical illustrations at the herbarium when I worked at RGB Kew back in the day!!!

That quite the compliment, thank you. I have been to Kew many times, a very nice place.

Hello my friend
Happy day for you and for every family
This painting is beautiful flowers

Thank you @mars9, it has been a gorgeous day, but now it's night time here.

Happy day in the morning
And happy day in the evening

Well the moon is beautiful tonight, so that is making me happy. And I have a happy/noisy cat sat next to me too!

Wow is a really nice view
I painted this from 9 years and did not draw only 4 people :)
When I joined the Arab Graphics Forum I sent a friend a picture of her drawing
عمار العمرانى

Start drawing again and see where it leads you :D

So I keep these pictures but I did not drawing again once again

Very nice indeed :) My garden has started, planted a few pots :)

Yay! It will be blooming by summer.

It should be... Hopefully :)

Helichrysum italicum have also medicinal use. In particular Helichrysum oil -
that is also known by other names such as “Immortelle” and “everlasting.” Good anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-allergenic properties.

I am so glad to see postings about plants and natural living on Steemit! Given the platform, it make sense to see the popularity of tech and investment type posts; but what would be really wonderful is if two worlds that are usually at opposite sides of the spectrum, tech and natural, could serve each other. I used to work with the Gates Foundation developing new technologies, now I live with a Japanese family having a 300 year Yamabushi (Japanese shamen)legacy. Their understanding of plants and medicine is phenomenal, they have shown me that nature IS the highest form of technology. Perhaps an a venue like Steemit could inspire "natural" growth, I certainly hope so.

And it's meant to keep cats off the flower beds- but so far this hasn't worked.

medicinal use is a different story - it's chemistry and it works.

What a nice day for it! Fun! :D Summer <3 Cheers!

A beautiful day @robyneggs

A work of art will be so beautiful if we understand the meaning of art itself.
