in art •  7 years ago

So I saw only a few psots with content related to paintings and I thought to make some posts.. so steemians can achieve the beautiness :) All images used, are derived from Google image search service with ,,With permission for reuse"enabled.

Girl with a Pearl Earring is an oil painting by 17th-century Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. The painting has been in the collection of the Mauritshuis in The Hague since 1902. The work is oil on canvas and is 44.5 cm (17.5 in) high and 39 cm (15 in) wide. It is signed "IVMeer" but not dated. It is estimated to have been painted around 1665.

What is interesting, is that the picture was bought by a man called Arnoldus Andries des Tombe for two guilders and thirty cents (almost 25 euros ) at an auction in Hague in 1881. It was in poor condition, since than, after many restaurations, the quality improved, though the original background color - indigo green has faded...

My personal opinion that this picture is a gorgeus example of human profficiency and tallent. I could watch it for hours, really :)
