Beautiful traditional body art "Mehendi" from India

in art •  8 years ago

Powdered dry leaves of a plant which is known as "lawsonia inermis" or Henna in local language are used to make a thick paste which is then used to create beautiful designs on body parts (mostly hands and feets) at the time of celebration like festivals and marriages.

Once the thick paste is dried on hands and feets, it is washed with lukewarm water and it leaves behind the tattoo like print for a couple of weeks .

It is a common practice in India among women to create mehendi designs on their hands and feets and without it the overall traditional look is always incomplete.
