Begining restoration of my Stormtrooper helmet

in art •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hi Steemians !

We have a full Stormtrooper costume, which we have had for around 2 years now. We use it as part of our magic show. We also lend it out to people that are organising charity events. As its a very realistic looking Stormtrooper.

Obviously its had a lot of use and its now starting to look a bit tatty. The helmet is made of a thin plastic and has started getting a bit split in places.

The Stormtrooper is due to be appearing at a music festival in a month.

My partner came up with the idea of resroring the helmet. And has started work !

The first step was to make a Papier-mâché mix. Paula used Water, Newspaper and PVA glue mixture.

Shes now applied the first layer of Papier-mâché to the original helmet.

This was done yesterday and has taken around 24 hours to dry.

The next step will be to apply a second layer, I will get more pictures later.
