I present to you Alfie Evans as painted by van Gogh
Recently in the news:
British toddler Alfie Evans dies after life support is withdrawn
I am posting a series of artworks created by an artificial neural network based on the convolutional network explained here. http://www.robots.ox.ac.uk/~vgg/research/very_deep/
If you have any ideas or subjects for future series feel free to request them in the comments.
I will do my best to make it happen.
Hello, phreakerx! I found your art really amazing! You have a good way to create some consciousness about a sensitive topic...
I want to sugest you to develope a post with art and some writen content, maybe developing a story accompained by your paintings, or maybe a post in which you could teach people how to paint like you do. That would be amazing!
Your art is so great! Congrats!
Mae.

Hello Mae and thank you for your compliments but these are done with a computer and not by my hands. :) I try to produce picture series that are familiar with people because they are currently in the news. Good or bad I don't discriminate, all stories that are newsworthy, with a subject that can be pictured are fair game to me. I try not to duplicate but with some people being more newsworthy than others makes this a bit difficult at times!
I thought about re-writing the news articles so I could include them into my steemit post in the past but that felt like plagiarism to me. I don't know anything more about the stories I produce artwork for than what I read from the news sources I often link to in the post. For me to move around words so as not trigger copy pasta bots seems disingenuous at best and downright wrong at worst. I know Steemians are prized for originality and would hate to get ostracized for a lack therein.
As far as recreating the pictures I post, there are a few different ways you could go about it. There is a consumer portal available in the form of deepdreamgenerator. It has an option there that lets you "merge" two pictures together. That is strikingly similar to the ConvNet used by VGG, who is the creator of the ConvNet algo I use to generate these pictures. Their paper can be found here. http://www.robots.ox.ac.uk/~vgg/research/very_deep/. Probably the most versatile way to produce these images is with your own computer and some software called neural-style made by jcjohnson. https://github.com/jcjohnson/neural-style. Here is another write-up I found from ICLR 2015 which also describes implementation of VGG's algo. https://arxiv.org/pdf/1409.1556.pdf. Hopefully this helps and addresses your comments. Have a good day and thank you for taking the time to comment and like my post and thank you again for your encouraging words. Cheers! :D
