Knowing Architecture: Design Workshops // #D0 (part I)

At Simón Bolívar University, the pillar of the architecture career consists of a series of design workshops whose purpose is to learn to face problems and develop solutions that can range from the largest urban scale to the smallest. Considering their importance and quantity (they're 11 in total!!), they often leave deep traces in students, unleashing a lot of emotions that range from the most genuine joy and satisfaction, to the most exasperating rage.

Design Workshops are usually dealing with many topics, but here i'm only going to talk about architectural projects develop.

The beginning of everything #D0

First, we started with Basic Design Workshop, that helps introduce students to the most basic notions about design of space. A fictitious place with an ambiguous context is the site where each person will place three pieces in the way they like the most: a cube, a vertical rectangle and a horizontal one.

It seems simple, and more when we see that is a quite simple place to understand. However, it is a great challenge that will tests those who intend to follow the path of architecture.

But it is thanks to its simplicity that basic problems of architecture will be synthesized: create open spaces, define limits, establish filters, change the perception of spaces and generate perspectives that hypothetical people will find their way.
