Tree Spirit in Chinese Ink

in art •  7 years ago

This is my tree spirit I drew him with a pen made from elephant grass (similar to bamboo) with chinese ink.
He is playful and brings luck to the forest.
I hope you like him!

Thank you for your comment it makes me smile!! I am pleased you like my tree spirit!

Nice work! It remember me some work of Salvador Dali:-)

Thanks for the lovely compliment!

You're welcome:-)

Aww yes he is playful! This is a really fun drawing. Cool about the pen - did you make it? The pen I mean?

Yes I used to work at the zoo (as a gardener) so I have a huge collection of different feathers and types of bamboo and grasses I love to draw with! Its quite simple to make a bamboo pen you just cut it on an angle just below a node this creates a sharp point to draw with and a reservoir for the ink to fill inside the stem up to the node.
I also like to frey the other end so it becomes a stiff brush, this works better with elephant grass rather than bamboo though, as it is softer and bamboo is quite hard and can be quite sharp if you tried to frey one end of it you might cut yourself.
Perhaps soon I will do a post about different organic pens.

Awesome drawing! I am going to comment on this post alone, maybe you'll see it better than on the other posts that have become so popular! Went through your posts and just want to say they are really awesome! You are an awesome artist. I really like the drawings and (in my view) novel ways of painting and drawing. I haven't read all that you have written, skimmed over it, but I am following you with the view on reading it! Keep up the awesome work and well done on the two or three posts that have gathered some good income! Greetings from South Africa.

Hey! Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment it means alot to get such nice feedback and compliments! I worked really hard on my posts so it's such a boost hearing that you enjoyed them and that they have sparked your interest!
G'day from Australia :-)

I hope that all your posts will get a lot of upvotes! You have mine :) I really loved the plastic photographs on the beach. Shocking and awesome in a sense.

Hi! Thanks for the feedback. Plastic is really everywhere you go even in very remote places. I am glad you found it shocking and awesome as I often describe these photos as beautifully tragic so in a sense I feel you really got the intended message of these photos.

Yes indeed. What a great word: beautifully tragic. That sums it up. We in South Africa, or at least just in the coastal areas I live in, don't get many such areas where plastic pool together.

nice creation

Thank you, I am glad you like him :-)

Is that a magic mushroom at his foot?

Of course! He is the tree spirit, trees and mushrooms are very good friends:-) He is magical so too are all of his forest companions.
