I'm in the prosess of learning how to use watercolors. It is very hard, and I have, until now, mostly painted different galaxy inspired textures and used copic markers for the rest. These two paintings was my first "watercolor-only" paintings, and I really enjoyed making them ^_^
Second try at painting a blue deer
The painting process
Materials used for making this painting:
- Canson XL watercolor paper
- Schminke Horadam Watercolors
- White ink
- White gel pen
- Multiliner
Watercolor only:
Added details using white ink:
Stars added, using white gel pen:
The first one I did:
It turned out nice, and I learned a lot while making it - which truly shows on the second one, it came out so much nicer. The second one was a commissioned painting, and they wanted the deer only.
A great image, well done.

Hey you've done a really great job especially regarding the fact it is just the beginning of your art way ;)
These watercolors are very vibrant and thick, normally watercolor is bit more transparent and light which can be achieved by adding more water when working on the artwork.
But this also could be your style ;) My style was a bit similar to yours when I just started out. It looks more alive...should I say hehe
Keep up the great work!
