Recycling is a hot topic in this world right now and because I think people should really recycle more I wanted to show that you can make pretty things with just a few things like bottle caps, some glue and splash of paint.
Recycling is the process of converting waste materials into new materials and objects. It is an alternative to "conventional" waste disposal that can save material and help lower greenhouse gas emissions . Recycling can prevent the waste of potentially useful materials and reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, thereby reducing: energy usage, air pollution , and water pollution (( Source Recycling Wikipedia))
Before I started to work on this project I already knew that I wanted to create a park view with a tree. It seems that trees have a steady foot in my work this year. Seeing I am a stressful person at heart I wanted to create this peaceful piece of nature where I could sit down and dream away! I made this work with as much used materials as I could! I collected caps for weeks and months! Because I believe that a better world starts at yourself I try to throw away as less as I and re-use materials.
What I used:
A loud of beer caps for the tree trunk.
A whole lot more bottle caps for the tree.
A re-used a canvas for the floor/ground.
The glue game from someone who wanted to throw it away!
Stick you use for sate on the BBQ! These were new.
Paint! This was already in my possession!
Progress report + pictures.
I started by gluing the beer caps together! The first few went rather well but when I came to the top it started to collapse on me and I had to sit still for like 30 minutes and wait for the glue to dry up. It took about 3 times to get it done!
After the beer caps where done I started the base for the green part of the tree. These caps were much easier to glue and they kept on their place like they were told by my fingers and glue!
Here you can see that I have put both parts together! This was the moment it could still stand on its own.... Before the whole work spit in two, three maybe even four pieces! I think I did not wait long enough for all the glue to dry! Lesson well learned!
Here you see that I made the top bigger with more bottle caps and I placed the work on a already used round canvas. I did not like the work I made on it but I never throw them away because with the paint I use, you can go over it again and make something new. You can also see that i started to work on the trunk of the tree by using hot glue lines.
I made the bench with stick you use to make sate!
With the Hot glue I started to give shape and form to create the perfect bench you want to sit on in a nice park! Yes, I glued my fingers to the work and yet that hurts!
And there you have it a nice bench ready to get some color!
I used white gesso paint to give the base color to the bench. After doing so I placed it against a bottle to dry up! You will see that the bench end up gray because I did not like the white.
Time to put more body on the work. I used the hot glue again and pulled up with a tooth pick till dry. That way I created a playful bushy-like effect.
I finally could start to add some green to the floor. I used all kinds of green and really splashed it down to the canvas in big lumps. This way you create depth in your work. I did not went into the glue because I wanted to let the dark shine trough for more effect!
An extra picture from the side so you can see the effect of the green floor! I really love how it turned out!
I glued the bench to the work and found out the white color was not what I wanted it to be. So I used a light gray gesso paint over the white but let the white come through at some spots! I also added a few more different colors of green to the tree!
So, now you see that you can create something pretty with used materials like caps!
Be the start of a cleaner world and stop throwing away so much! Many materials can have a second life like cloths, wood and yes, even plastic! The world is already a dump, look at the ocean and the seas! Try to recycle what you can!

This scene is packed full of little stories:
A little bird worked hard for many days to build her nest, and every day a little girl comes to spread some seeds and watch the babies as they grow.
An old man, brings his lunch in a worn out basket to the bench where his wife used to love to sit and read.
A young man checks his pocket for the tenth time and wipes the sweat from his brow with a handkerchief. He paces back and forth under the tree, mumbling to himself nervously. Stops, checks his watch, five minutes until She arrives and he will, this time he will ask Her, this time he won't choke on the words. Four and a half minutes....
What fun, thank you for inspiring these little tales.
