This is the first time I have posted art on steemit. i am a long time artist of watercolor and pastels. Some oils when I am in the mood to smell linseed oil (I like it.) I treat my own pastel paper with pumice and gesso to give the paper tooth. This is a neighbor- a Jesuit priest. I was going for an old world look. I will post more portraits in different styles. I encourage everyone to tackle a self portrait and paint your friends and family. Pastels are great because YOU CAN use them like watercolor. I use cheap vodka as a medium.
