Work In Progress - The Squirrel With The Pearl Earring

in art •  7 years ago

12x16 Oil on canvas.
This is the seventh Squirrel with the Pearl Earring I've undertaken, but the first large and in oil. I did one for a show at Yellow House a while back, and the person who bought it commissioned two more, but because of a communication issue, I ended up making five. Since then, all but one of those littles has sold, and I had already planned from the beginning to use the little as a study for a large piece. I think one more working should do it, for the fur.

Today I have to chase somebody for payment. I hate doing that. I wish people would be more responsible, and not hire others to do a job they don't want to pay for.
On the bright side, I get to do Belleville-Ville tonight! Yay! First Tuesday of every month, my improv troupe performs at the Monarch Tavern. It's fun for everyone, but especially us performers.

awesome painting,
the reflection on the earring got me confused though, shouldn't it be somehow similar to the reflection in the eye?

Thanks. I'm confused that you don't think the reflections are congruent. They are from my vantage point.

well that, and I assume the pearl haven't as smooth on the surface compared to the eye.

Ohhh, I see! Because the shine isn't round in the same way. That's true. I was trying to copy that from the original Vermeer painting. I haven't done a perfect job, but at least the direction of light is alright. :)

Thank you very much for sharing inspiring content.

My pleasure, of course! Thank you for interacting! :)
