That 80's feel

Hey everyone, I hope you guys are having a great weekend, and holy crap, this whole project took me about 12 hours to complete. "Hmm, why is that raizel? It's only vector art". Well let me tell ya. (; ̄︶ ̄) The preparation for this picture started at modeling the glasses in Blender, which took about a good hour or so. Then I just posed my model in different positions to see which pose looked right. After that, I had to changed some of the colors on the model, so that when I go to move it in Photoshop it's easier to select it with the magic wand tool. From there, hell started, or at least that's what I thought.

I just started out with a plane,
subdivided it 5 times,
and began the modeling process.

I tried to add more by adding in more shapes to the glasses and the piece that hooks around your ear.

Making my job easier to select the colors in Photoshop.

In Photoshop, I used that demon tool that still haunts me until this day, the pen tool!!! ooooo spooky. 🎃 But seriously though, if this tool was a human, I would take a nice piece of white paper, and slide it between it's fingers. I had so much damn trouble with this tool I nearly cried a river. (ಥ﹏ಥ) But then I was understanding the way of the pen, and then I was beasting like Neo when he was beating the crap out of the agent Smiths. I proceeded to add in the strokes, colored the lips in, and added in a 1980's type background.

What moved me to make this picture was when I was a little kid at my grandmas. She had this art on her wall that had simple colors, and the women on there were very beautiful. As I grow up I would continue to look at the picture, and there was just something about it that made me feel blissful. So, today I finally researched who the artist was, and it was none other than Patrick Nagel. I find it so cool that I can still remember his art work from all of those years. Hopefully one day, my art and animation can exceed at that level. ▼ω▼

Excellent work raizel! And yes raster old school for old folks like me ;-)

Thank you. @ratkinson3570 :)

Pen tools also frighten me. (ᵕ̣̣̣̣̣̣﹏ᵕ̣̣̣̣̣̣)

The pen tool is quite interesting. It takes some time getting use to.

do you animate these toons ? cuz that would be awesome

In the past I have worked with 2d animation. I mainly work with 3d now.

Great facial sculpting!
Adding to that, I really like the combination of the toon shaders and the freestyle element.

Thank you. :)

Nice work! And yeah, I always struggle with the pen tool too! :'D

I think I'm going to practice with the pen tool more. It gets the job done, but its hard to use.

I love how it's in black an white and just the right colors! :)

Thank you @aishwarya, glad to have you back. :)
