John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, Pastel on Cypress Wood by Ray Istre

in art •  8 years ago

This is a smaller work featuring two cowboy hall of famers, John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Each actor had their roles to play and they did it well with memorable performances telling stories of the old west. My favorite parts are John Waynes eyes and Clint Eastwoods hands.

This painting is chalk on cypress wood. I used the chalk to allow the grain of the wood to be seen and used as part of the art work. I created an abstract, of sorts, that interacted with the art. The wood grain is not abstract to us, as we are use to seeing it everywhere but being seen through the transparent pastel chalk creates an interesting interaction for design.

Enjoy.

Really beautiful piece of artwork. I don't think they ever appeared in a cowboy movie together. That would have been a great movie.

Steem on,
