"Madamobil" - ein Experiment

🇬🇧

As much as I like digital art and image editing, I still love the "handmade", and the traditional techniques also offer a wide field for research and experimentation.

In the late 90s, for example, I intensively explored the possibilities of marbling.

🇩🇪

🇬🇧

For a start, I tried marbling on paper. First of all it was quite a mess, but over time I got the results I wanted to apply in my paintings.

🇩🇪

Zunächst probierte ich das Marmorieren auf Papier. Erst einmal war es eine ziemliche Sauerei, aber mit der Zeit bekam ich doch die Resultate, die ich in meinen Bildern anwenden wollte.

🇬🇧

The next step was to integrate the whole thing into a reverse glass painting, which was a much bigger challenge. Eventually, I finally got a grip on it, and so I created "Madammobil". Even with high heels... However, in a rather moderate variant ; -)

🇩🇪

this is cool, I've done some marbling too long time ago. I have a bunch of old books, hand bound by craftsmen (and probably craftswomen also - the Binnen I is not used in English) where the end papers are marbled. This kind of craftmanship is not (or rarely) done today.

Thanks a lot for the share Otto! You ought to check out this blog. There are these retweet thingies and you get rewarded for participating. I don't understand it, since I don't do twitter. I'm sure you could benefit from it though.

I have such books too and I love the craftsmen-(and women)ship.

I don't know why you bother either. Sorry, I had to leave that conversation...

When I saw Peter's post last summer, I had to try this right away. There are enough posts pointing to steemit out there now, particularly in the visionary artists circle. If someone doesn't want to get it, I consider it their choice.

You put a lot of work and effort into the community already. Wonder how much you get back... not that you expect anything I know, but sometimes a little encouragement goes a long way... Looking forward to see you next week :-)

A sweet, innocent spinster. That's what your painting reminded me of!

And some Odette Toulemonde for some reason...

Oh! And this Greek actress (Alexandra Pantelaki - Αλεξάνδρα Παντελάκη)

Odette Toulemonde! Love the movie!! I'll have to find a movie with Alexandra Pantelaki then, I guess!

An amazing technique so skillfully applied! I briefly considered moving more into digital work this week (as i'm working on a few digital projects), but I quickly dismissed that thought - i think I enjoy the experimentation of exploring media too much.

Thank you so very much for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I like digital, but for me it will likely remain a smaller aspect in my work. So far I have never been able, to actually create a finished piece of digital art from start to finish, but I find it fascinating, when someone has the skills to do it. Although I'm itching to get an ipad pro and pen to draw with that, I'm afraid I'd loose my "hand" for traditional and I would most likely miss the touch of a pencil on paper (or glass), the sounds, the smells and all you have with that..

All is so amazing, as usual haha
Hope your day has been lovely!

Thanks a lot. Hope all is good for you too :-)

It's very pretty these marblings, I like the effect. It must not to be simple to do glass painting, at least I think so. I will not have enough of a life to do everything I want to do, time goes too fast!

Many thanks for your kind compliment. There was a time, when I seriously thought about giving up glass painting, because I constantly ran into problems. With time it got easier, but then, like you say, time seems to run out...
