Left vs Right? Let me know what you think πŸ€™

in art β€’Β  7 years agoΒ  (edited)

Yo Steemians! Would love to know what you think about these two different styles.

The right one is the same style of my latest series of artworks. You can find out more about in my previous post, Ink Illustration from my new art series, Fear.

The left is experimental and I'm very interested in developing it further.

Which one do you like and why?

Artistically, the one on the right is the one that caught my attention scrolling through my feed.

You are clearly talented, but to be honest I find them both disturbing. Probably because I find decapitation disturbing.

I'm on my phone so I can't see detail, but there also appears to be more violence than just decapitation going on in the one on the right.

I can't say I "like" either one as a result, but I can say you've got skills.

Thanks @aboutyourbiz! Thanks for your honesty, I really appreciate it! I'm trying to make art that is confronting and disturbing. The new series of illustrations I'm working on is based on the human condition you can find out more about it here. Thanks again for your feedback!

They look awesome. They both are obviously Good but the left one is more expressionistic. I feel like you expressed a feeling on the left image. Like saying you have to much on your mind and it's gonna explode.
The right one just shows what you're more comfortable with and its more polished and clean composition.
Overall my opinion is keep doing both and master the left style and keep it going.
Hell do a mash up of both styles in the future. :) Good stuff

Cheers bro! Yeah the left one is definitely me expressing all my thoughts and my mind exploding. It's cool that you could interpret that from my drawing! I reckon I'll give a mash up a go!

I am an artist myself and I've drawn similar stuff when I am on my down time so I know how to interpret some people's works some times. I'll give ya a follow and keep an eye for that mash up :)

Definitely agree with @markmorbidity and definitely want to see more of both!

I know right. Something like good an evil maybe :)

I like the right page because of the page border and the other accompanying elements like your name (awesome letters, love the dimension). I also like the boldness of the right page, it has great contrast.

Happy I found another talented Steemian to follow ☺

Thanks heaps! It's great that you could decipher my name in the drawing! I was wondering if someone would notice that haha

I am very fond of distinctive lettering, it grabbed my attention almost immediately! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work, regardless of which direction you choose to take it ☺

First impression I was drawn to the one on the right because of the boldness and little added elements, but now the more I look at the one on the left, the more I notice all the little intricacies in the "head" and it is really drawing me into it.

Yes,,, I like,

I prefer the left, very detailed, but the right is also very good thickness πŸ‘ thanks for sharing

I love the left one. Can't explain why.

I like the left one because the grey shades do the trick for me! But the right one is also very good, with stark contrasts and reminds me of japanese art (maybe it's just the script on the side!)

Thanks! Yeah my latest art series, which is the same style as the right, is inspired by Japanese woodblock prints (ukiyo-e)

For me personally, the one on the left. I prefer the character shading. It gives it more of a real feel. That's just me though :):) Both are still cool, gg!!

For me, both styles are unique and attractive. I suggest you work on something that you really like. Keep up the good work!πŸ’“πŸŒΈ

The right one is definitely great- the boldness and simplicity of it lend to it ability to convey the story, plus it's all self contained by the border kind of like a comic box, so it's good to stand alone or with others. But I prefer the one on the left, pretty much just because I like surreal art. Because of the confusion of it, it makes the eye linger a bit longer in order to take everything in. Something like that would be really cool in paint. Do you paint?

Thanks so much for your feedback! Really appreciate it. I'm also a huge fan of surreal art :) I do paint but haven't done so in a while. I'm hoping to find a studio soon so I can get back into it

These are both great. I like the left one though, it seems to have more dimensions and complexity. The pieces both convey a sort of restlessness or anxiety, to me at least. Excellent work. Upvoted and followed.
