Murals of Los Angeles 1st Edition

Murals. The only bad thing about a street mural is that it doesn't last. The building sells or is torn down all together. Torn down and gone but not the memory of the mural in your mind. The memory's are for us. A gift from the artist. Ive seen great street art change over the last four decades. What was once considered graffiti and a public disgrace is now considered high art. Rightly so. But what changes is the artist. Over time. Started with tagging gang signs in the eighties and now does twenty foot murals. Everything from low-riders to beautiful women. Lots of timeless snap shots of Latin life in the big city. But like I said they dont last. Sometimes years. Sometimes decades. The secret or mural art is that its not forever. Maybe your forever. Its not a Picasso. It wont be sold at Christie's auction house. It wont be stolen or left to someone in a will. It could be painted over though. Ouch.

I have of late noticed more and more murals and I will collect them and share them with you over time. The good thing about the digital age is pictures. We can photograph these beauty's now and keep them in our scrapbook cloud. How quaint. Imagine if someone had an IPhone at Custer's last stand or the Alamo. I guess we should feel lucky we were born in this time. Documenting our lives as we do. I do feel lucky I can photograph these murals now. Stop and spend a couple moments of what took the artist hours to complete.
