A huge amount of time and hard work is invested in acquiring a new skill. It takes years to learn to play the piano fluently, to paint the subtle details on a painting or to perform any kind of creative work. A successful artist is a professional in his field and takes his work seriously.
Maybe with platforms like Steemit, and those who will follow it, artists can have an alternative source of income and find a place where their work is appreciated.

Emmie Tsumura is a Toronto-based illustrator and graphic designer who imagine how people who expect artists to work for free look like. In a series titled "For Exposure", for Format Magazine, she created portraits of clients with quotes beside them.
Every artist out there can relate to some of them.

UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh
Lol I can relate to these so much! We deserve just as much pay as anyone else! I'm glad Steemit exists. Sometimes it can be hard to find ways to make money as an artist.
Lets not forget the classic
"I'll promote you if you don't charge me".
Yeah... You'll promote me, To who? your parents? LOL

It's good to see artists getting paid here. I hope to see more offering their work for Steem payment. I'm sure lots of people would buy something. Dan and Ned could open a gallery :)

Steemit, for me, is a good alternative source of income and a place to share my artworks in, so I'm happy to be here. The world is full of people that asks a piece of art for free ("If you send me one of your pieces for free, I'll promote you! "), but this is my job and my time (and my skills) cost ^_^

Artist should get paid because without pay they can't continue their craft on a regular basis.

In my first year at university the very first lesson I ,and my classmates, were taught was; to never give your work for free.
For if you give something for free then you yourself are saying it has no value.
When a person in the town hands you a leaflet for some bargain in a nearby store, 94% of them are thrown away within 30 seconds.
This is because it gives the impression that it must not be of much value if they have to work hard to tell people about what they are selling. Often the wording is something like "Bargain Givaway"
Have you ever told a joke to someone, and then a week later they tell you the same joke back because the forgot it was you who originally told them?
This happens because you gave the joke for free. Trust me, if you had charged them for that joke they would have remembered it was you lol!
If you do work or give your work for free then the person you give it will also not respect you or your work. Why should they, it cost nothing.
This was drummed into us early on and I have lived by it. If I am stuck for finds I get another type of job to tide me over but I NEVER give my work for free.
I wont write a word on Facebook anymore since I joined Steemit lol!
Great post!

I envision Steemit as another home for artists where they will feel welcomed, appreciated and PAYED!
I for one love and support the arts and artists!
