babysitting duty

Apparently to make sure I don't get carried away I need to use the pencil brushes (I use the sketch and pencil brushes from David Revoy's brushpack for Krita) rather than the ink pen brush.

A couple of old chaotic little roleplaying characters: Kit the 17yo half-Chinese red-haired Kitsune Eji in Koto form (her name is Kit Fox because I simply couldn't resist, she copped enough flak for it as was and when she turned out to be a Kitsune she started going by her Chinese name of Yue) and Liana the 14yo Un/Seelie dragon Pooka in Fae Mien (I couldn't decide if I wanted her to be Seelie or Unseelie so decided to see if I could go straight down the middle and it worked surprisingly well, also you're not technically allowed to have mythological animal Pooka but the GM allowed it because Liana's dragon form is 2m long and her breath attack is a rainbow that randomly changes the colour of whatever it touches, it does no damage except possibly to pride, and to add chaos to chaos the GM also allowed her to have a random free-Glamour power of snapping her fingers and having whatever she's looking at change to a random colour, or if I spent a point of Glamour she could temporarily turn an inanimate object into a random other inanimate object).

If the two of them ever got together it would be...entertaining. Mainly because Kit is a headstrong, stubborn, know-it-all teenager that is slowly learning to pull her head in and Liana is a freaking fae. Kit is probably wondering how the hell she got stuck with babysitting duty here.

This post also appears on my blog.

Now you can see how terrible at drawing I was! And also why I now use bases when drawing human/oid things XD

Thanks for looking! ^_^

Nice backstory, my friend! I really like Kit's full-on fox version. Here I thought "kitsune" traces its roots in Japan, I didn't know it was a thing in China too. Also, you use Krita huh? I've used it myself in the past, but found it hard because I don't have a pad or stylus. It's still a great tool though.

This is what, day 3? Keep going! I know that you're going to eventually break the barrier, my friend :D

Hehe thanks ^_^ That Kyobi (the small/normal fox form) version is still the best that kind of shot/pose I've done ever XD

Kitsune is Japanese and there are similar fox spirits in China but they're called something else obviously (I would have to look that up and I'm too lazy right now XD), I guess they all got lumped under "kitsune" to make things easier for the World of Darkness roleplaying system :D

Yep Krita, Blender and 3d Coat are my main tools of trade :)

Yeh I think it's day 3. Don't know if there's a barrier as such but as long as I have an idea hopefully I can just keep it up XD

Oh cool! I like how you're incorporating those various elements into your design. Some people just make stuff up as they go, but it's those little details that sets the great ones apart :D

I used Blender back in college haha I took a 3D modelling course, but mainly because I've taken up all the artificial intelligence courses already and I still needed one elective haha! Suffice to say, my finished project looked hideous. I still got a 4.0 though, so that's testament to effort carrying me haha

I mostly just incorporated World of Darkness stuff seeing as that's the universe I was working in. The rest of the stuff I just remember little bits and pieces from random bouts of research (occasionally I have to check to make sure they're still accurate XD).

LoL XD I was doing 3d as part of my course, actually learned Lightwave which I was quite glad about as I could not 3D Studio or Maya or C4D for the life of me. Actually came pretty reluctantly to Blender because my partner didn't want me to keep dropping wads of cash on Lightwave upgrades and lured me with saying he could write add-ons for it. I got there eventually and he hasn't needed to write anything for me yet as other people have, but he is writing something else for me XD

Nice work getting the good mark :) I didn't quite as good a mark on my animation, they marked me up because I had the most ambitious project and was the only one that used an IK rig (everyone else used FK) but marked me down because I didn't have time to render more than one shot. They did allow for the fact that it was the first time they'd run the course and they'd pretty much asked for the impossible XD

Hmm you mentioned World of Darkness before, but I have to say, I'm not that familiar with it. I wonder how it would affect my reception of your work if I get more familiar with it.

Yeah, Blender is highly customizable. Nice of JJ to give you free updates haha! With regard to my grade, it wasn't that hard. I guess the bar was set pretty low. Other people who used pre-made models and just animated them got 4.0 as well. So, that was a huge boost to my ego. Thank God I spent countless sleepless nights to get an original work done ugh

Don't stress about it, I'm not likely to do a lot of WoD fanart/pics of my characters :)

A post a day streak broken? :(

Not yet XD

Didn't have any ideas today so 10yo gave me something to do :)
