This is a view from the top of Lake Wakatipu in Glenorchy, New Zealand. I came here to go painting outdoors (en plein air) as the air was relatively still but it was a partly cloudy day with the potential for good light effects on the mountains.
When I went plein air painting in Glenorchy it was the start of winter and there was some fresh snow on the mountain tops.

This was my plein air painting, painted on location that day. I wanted to capture the rusty red in the trees and the clouds on the mountains.

Thanks @arqetype, it was a bit of a tricky painting due to the light angles but I used more desaturated colour for the mountains in the background to make it recede!
