'Guernsey South Coast' - Art and Photography

I painted this art work in 2015 and is a scene of the cliffs in the south coast of Guernsey, Channel Islands. This painting was a game changer for me as prior to that I was struggling with my painting process. I met an artist who gave me loads of help with my art work who showed me where I was going wrong and how I could improve.

I had many lightbulb moments with this painting and many things clicked into place for me. I feel like this art work marked the start of the new direction I was going in with my painting.

I wanted to create a dramatic seascape of the Guernsey cliffs with lots of atmosphere and light.

Would you believe my original reference photos were quite different from my painting as the weather conditions were calm in the photo reference I used. I used other reference photos of the sea and sky to create the dramatic light and weather in the finished painting.

The Guernsey south coast is my favourite part of the island, it's breathtaking coastline in my opinion.
