It was one of those evenings where I just needed to get outdoors and paint. Luckily there is no shortage of subjects in my local area.
My plein air paintings are all information gathering exercises for potential studio paintings as I always get photo reference at the same time. I also find it meditative and I always learn something from painting outdoors.
Today has been very showery and cloudy as we have had a cold southerly weather system blast through. Whilst the windy conditions aren't ideal for painting, sometimes bad weather provides the most atmosphere to capture in a painting.
I painted this art work in oils on a linen panel.
Poplar Trees, Oromahoe, 8" x 10", oil on linen panel.
