I painted this art work in 2019 outdoors en plein air. I drove to the base of the Crown Range near Queenstown and painted the autumn trees in the straw yellow / pale green fields set to the backdrop of the Remarkables mountains.
I love doing these quick plein air paintings, you can get a lot of information down which can then be used as a colour study for a larger painting...or just a nice little painting to hang on your wall.
Autumn Trees, Crown Terrace, 7.5” x 10” (approx), oil on canvas, painted outdoors en plein air.
