FUD by @shortcut - Acrylic on canvas paper - 2018 - About DIN A3

Dear friends and followers,

as an artist, I'm often full of Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt.

"Is this really art? Is it good enough? Will someone like it or even buy it?"

I'm aware, that this is not the best way of self-promotion, but I just want to be honest. And, to be honest, the FUD is, what keeps me going, keeps me looking for new ways, for new styles, new expressions and new works.

Making of

This time was actually the first time, I started by doing a sketch on the paper.

IMG_9707_Fotor.jpg

Usually I just start painting without any vision or plan and then work through whatever comes out of me.

IMG_9710_Fotor.jpg

So it felt a bit like coloring by numbers or painting a coloring picture.

IMG_9713_Fotor.jpg

But it was also quite a good exercise for being more accurate.

IMG_9714_Fotor.jpg

Although I used a fine brush, it was quite difficult to stay in the color fields and to develop an interesting color scheme at the same time.

IMG_9717_Fotor.jpg

The difficulty was, that I usually often mix the colors right on the canvas. But this time, I had to mix them on my palette. And although I was quite struggling with the colors, I kept going.

IMG_9721_Fotor.jpg

Maybe, that's the best tip, I have for you: Just keep going!

IMG_9731_Fotor.jpg

So I took a smaller brush and started to outline the color fields.

IMG_9735_Fotor.jpg

It was really difficult to paint those thin lines, but it was another good excercise and at least, I created something new regardless of all Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt.

I wonder, if anybody can imagine a room for this? Maybe a children's room or something.

Please let me know, what you think about it!

Thanks for watching!

25 Steem wäre so meine Schmerzgrenze.

ich rede mal mit dem Finanzminister......

Alles klar, mach das ;-)

I like the way how you present the process, it is really difficult to imagine how the result will look like and still everything can be changed during the process. I like mixing colors no matter on palette, on canvas the best I find is to get two three colors on slightly bigger brush may be flat on better and just color with that, the colors will be mixed automatically and it makes really good effect. I try not to mix completely the colors, I like when you still can recognize that there are couple of them together, because sometimes properly mixed one darken the end result. When I saw your painting it reminded me Picasso ones, I love yours and really impressed with the end result. You have a great imagination, very good job @shortcut :)

Thanks a lot for your detailed feedback and thanks a lot about the comparison with Picasso, who I highly worship :-)!

It's very interesting to get such an opinion from another artist. I usually don't think too much about how I do certain things, but this painting was different in several ways, because it was more planned than usually. I tend to be too self-critical sometimes, but overall it has been a great experience.

I can understand what do you mean with "self-critical", normally I can't assess the results of my works critically that is why my husband is the great indicator. I usually show him and ask what does he thinks, unconsciously I look at the expression of his face and you can't believe I immediately know what he thinks, if it is good or not if I need to change something to improve it. Do you also have Kritiker at your side?

Yes, my seven year old daughter is often my first indicator. It's really nice to re-watch the work through the eyes of a child. And my wife usually also gives me some valuable feedback. But I absolutely love Steemit for providing me feedback, the quality of that is so much higher, than in any other social media, I tried before. (And sometimes people at Steemit are even asking, if my art is for sale ;-)

Have the same opinion, have you sold any of your works. I may be very greedy but at present I prefer to keep my ones may be because I still want to be reminded about my development skills. Thank for your chat today @shortcut and you do not need to upvote :)

I sold several of my works using the @steembay bid bot already (and some digital artworks directly.) Sometimes I also want to hold back my works, because I think about doing an exhibition sometimes in the near future. But it's also important to let go :-) Good luck with your development and also thanks for the chat. I often upvote comments, that I find valuable, to support this kind of interaction :-)

I've got FUD² = Fear, uncertainty & doubt without artistic ability.

I really enjoyed seeing the process of how this beautiful piece developed.

Stay Strong

“The only time I feel alive is when I'm painting.” Vincent Van Gogh

“Creativity takes courage.” Henri Matisse

“I am seeking. I am striving. I am in it with all my heart.” Vincent van Gogh

Thanks a lot for your kind feedback, encouragement, and motivation :-)

Luckily I still have my ears at their original place.

Man Vincent was hard core, after that he did a self portrait -- tip of the hat.

Yes, his work is really outstanding, but the price he payed was way too high.
As far as I remember he didn't even sell his art during lifetime and only could survive with the support of his brother.

Interesting you mention that, it's something I had intended to work into a post about creative people, "putting themselves out there" at the mercy of public opinion.

Ah, sounds like a quite interesting topic for a post. Looking forward to reading it ;-)

The FUD is also what makes me going. That is (like you can see on the next Phill page you are going to translate) the Scottish version of FUD.

Hahahaha - rofl :-)) I definitely didn’t have that in mind, but gives the title a perfect twist.

Vincent came and asked me about what it meant, and immediately knew what word to use in French. He is quite apt when it comes to such things.

Yes, he is. I guess, in German it would be "Fotze", although it's quite vulgar.
"Sie ist eine totale Fotze." - "She's a total cunt."

Fotze it has to be!

There was one Spanish guy in the 20th Century, who was almost good as you, @shortcut ;)

Haha - For some reason he was a little bit more successful, though. :-))

love! (and lol ;) )

Thanks Paolo ;-) Always appreciate your feedback!

If you feel this is art, then your feeling should be decided if it is not or it is .

I’m quite sure, that this is art. I’m just a bit undecided, if I were able to do it even better ;-)

always you can make better, but sometimes it's good that everything is not perfect.

That's true ;-)

:))

I do not understand art, but I love beauty, so if I judge your image is good, I start to see from just a stroke on white paper. then you give the color, so in the end it looks a form, I do not know what wajud really, tapai as if there will be something interesting to me to keep paying attention, so I conclude your picture is very good for me.
and I think you are like me, more dominant to dark colors

Thanks for your feedback. Glad you like the painting. The photo turned out a bit dark, in reality there are lots of bright colors in it :-)

that is what amazes me, after I noticed there are many bright colors, but why there is a dark impression? or I am color-blind, ha ha ha

What a particular style, I really like the colors and the features that make the design

Thanks! I’m really not sure about the color scheme, but glad, you like it :-)

They are not put in the traditional way...They are propio these combinations that hit and I like them....experimenting is always a good thing

Absolutely ;-)

i think its called about the creativity, not thinking too much just do it and find what great work you have done.

not thinking too much just do it

Thanks for your comment! That's the way I usually make art, but sometimes I'm a bit in doubt about the result ;-)

Great work you have done interesting to see the making of that ;)

Thanks for your appreciation!

Thank you :-)

Most welcome, have a nice day
