Selling Art is Pushing my Creative Output // 10 New Crypto Artworks

in art •  6 years ago

Ladies and Gentlemen,

in this post I proudly present my latest digital art creations. Some of these were already tokenized on SuperRare and a few were even sold.

I can tell you, that there is not much, which is comparable with the moment, I sell some of my art. As I always wanted to be an artist, I don't necessarily wanted to be a starving artist. But, more important: For the first time I make the experiences, that my art is appreciated that much and collectors actually even believe in the increase of value of my art.

Although this certainly isn't my intention of making art, but it's a huge motivation and leads to a massive boost in creativity. So here is an overview of my latest works.

Enjoy!

To the Moon (and back)

The first pair deals with the current bear market and the related hopes (that partly disappeared in thin air).

Pixelated

The second pair shows a glitch version of my favorite scene from the Breaking Bad series. It's the moment Gustavo Fring dies and you can see it here. The second piece shows a pixelated portrait of myself.

Discordianism

The left piece is still version of an animated gif and a tribute to Discordia, the goddess of disorder. According to the 'Principia Discordia' her greek equivalent called 'Eris' became something of a patron saint of chaotic creation:

I am chaos. I am the substance from which your artists and scientists build rhythms. I am the spirit with which your children and clowns laugh in happy anarchy. I am chaos. I am alive, and I tell you that you are free.

Violon de Venus

The right artwork above is based on a collage, I made out of two famous artworks: "Le Violon d'Ingres" by Man Ray (which was inspired by the french painter Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres) and Andy Warhol's interpretation of Botticelli’s "The Birth of Venus". In the art of glitch, the symbiosis of these epic works seems almost natural, since the collapsing parts join together to form a new masterpiece.

Dismantling

The left piece shows the dismantlement of our reality and is based on a glitch of my printer, that I digitally amplified. "We are all just pixels in a matrix, aren't we?"

"Cologne Cathedral", digital art 2018

Cologne Cathedral

The pixel-sort glitch of the Cologne Cathedral is based on a photo, I've shot with my mobile phone several years ago. In Germany everyone knows this famous cathedral, but especially when you live so close to Cologne, like I do, you just can't ignore it. Most remarkable, it took 632 years to be finished.

It is Germany's most visited landmark, attracting an average of 20,000 people a day, and [...] the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe [...]. The towers for its two huge spires give the cathedral the largest façade of any church in the world.

Plastic World

The last pair is based on video performances, I recorded in the late 80s. The left piece shows a glitched screenshot of a performance, where I painted myself with greasepaint. The right piece is a based on a screenshot of a performance called "Plastic World", I recorded in the bathroom of the community service dorm. It was sold within minutes, after I've put it up on SuperRare.

We need superrare.co on this blockchain. Can you do that, please?

Haha, I really would like to see something similar based on the Steem blockchain, but my programming abilities are somewhat rusty... also still waiting for SMTs to be able to tokenize art.

Yeah, having a tokenized platform for arts on the Steem blockchain will be awesome.

Tokenize art sounds interesting, but SMT was unfortunately postponed.

Yes.. the only other way, I could think of this, would be using custom json like SteemMonsters, but there is no easy way to add new assets yet, which would be necessary to make it work like SuperRare.

Hello @shortcut, thank you for sharing this creative work! We just stopped by to say that you've been upvoted by the @creativecrypto magazine. The Creative Crypto is all about art on the blockchain and learning from creatives like you. Looking forward to crossing paths again soon. Steem on!
