For advertising, fashion, editorials, magazines or set-designs, the last few years have been marked by a resurgence of paper culture. This material, which we thought was gradually disappearing, declining with the pace of new technologies, the advent of digital technology and electronic books, is experiencing a real renaissance. Many artists strangely feel the need or desire to manipulate paper, cut, bind, loosen, fold and paste it to overcome the traditional use of reading and writing media. Focus on a tool for obsolescence turned into a major trend.

Maud Vantours is a freelance designer and plastic artist, graduated from ESAA Duperre and based in Paris. Despite her young age, she has already collaborated with such gilded letter brands as Guerlain, Adidas, Tag Heuer, Lancome, Yves Saint Laurent. Showing a preference for paper, which she manipulates with as much virtuosity as metal, wood or plastic, her universe is expressed through colourful motifs, superimposed in layers to succeed in giving relief, depth to flowers, tiles, rounds, or even to bring a hypnotizing dimension to circular shapes. His work aims to elaborate the matter, to dig it out and to create the unthinkable from paper.

Her paper sculptures attracted, among others, magazines Paulette and Official who came to pick her up for double-page editorials and set-design for brands. One of his most striking collaborations was with Adidas in 2014, which paved the way for new aesthetic forms: Maud imagined a pair of Flux ZXs alongside other leading fashion and design names. In 2015, for the Annick Goutal perfume store, she had produced marvellous light and enchanting butterfly installations.
