Meta Classicism: A photographic sculpture. the process of a concept design.

in art •  8 years ago  (edited)

Greetings steemers:

I had the pleasure to chat with Mrs @yoganarchista on facebook. Our initiative for this chat was this post of her on steemit which you can track here following this link. She is a very talented person and I am very glad I had the chance to chat with her.

The story is really simple I find her drawings very inspiring and after a little chat as I understand she is an amateur painter and she has a lot of interests which I am not going to reveal I will let her promote her self as she pleases and she fits to. She was kind enough to allow me to use one of her pictures as I am in search of something inspiring to paint for my own collection.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon this picture of her ( photogrpapher is Mr. Stephan keinz  so Kudos for that fine photo) which I found to be an amazing piece of art. So I ask her permission to use it for a project and she was kind enough to accept.

This project is a study of how I am planning to approach this painting, Photoshop is a powerful tool for concepts and I am using it to see the potential in my idea before I start painting it.

Process

Below is the original photo of Mr. Stephan keinz: It is excellent as it is. But I am planning for something more dreamy. I love the pose (although I will center it a bit to the right in the end, just some mm to get the golden rule right). take note of how the lines of the head her left arm and the cross section of her feet is aligned almost perfect in the center of the picture:

The main problem I faced was that this picture was very sharp for what I am aiming for and I had to invent the mid-tones needed for that dreamy image I was after. So I improvised.

I will produce 3 different pictures and add some blue purplish lights. I will also darken up the colors and illuminate the skin tones in the third copy. I am planing to use an HDR technique to get to the result I was thinking of in my head and hopefully this trick will work. ( Have in mind I am not in posses ion of the Raw NEF files so this would make my end result not as great as it would be other wise). But for my purposes of a concept art will do just fine.

Here after several hours of playing around with the settings on the HDR panel I have managed to get the result I was visioning. The two pictures below are ready to be my next composition. I love the ripples on the fabric. That along with the pose, they are giving me the feeling of a meta classicism sculpture. Like something Micheal Angelo would be creating if he was among us at this era.

Every SD collected from this post will be split with the model @yoganarchista

This post is released, as a research in form and shape for my work, I have the permission needed of the owners to both work with it, and post that progress on my blog.

I will never release material copied or pasted without the proper permissions from the artists.

We are professionals after all. This is what we do. I strongly suggest to keep an eye on her blog as well. She is quite talented and promising.

I hope you like the end result. You can check more of my work on my blog.

If you do like it then, consider following me and stay tuned with my future projects.

Why have you not used the original one in the first place ?
Is it only me thinking that it is the best one?

It is already a good picture in your photoshop version:)

I have used computer generated sketches for many painting too. I did kind of stop earlier, though - normally in a high contrast black and white montage. So much happens when you paint and I prefer to have some room for improvisation.

I hope you post the result here. It will be interesting to see.

It will take a while to make a painting out of this but I will try to deliver as soon as possible.
it won't be easy to transfer those ripples on the fabric, but for what is worth I am already working the initial sketch.

Thank you for your comment.

No hurry. I'll try to keep an eye out :)

That is really amazing! I don't know how long it took until I breath again... but hey, I still live!

thank you my friend for your comment. Kudos to both the model and the photographer they have done an amazing job already. there is a little room to evolve an already perfect concept.

I know that feel I stopped breathing for a while my self as well when I faced this awesome image.

Thank you for explaining the process.

Well it is a very rough explanation It doesn't really help beginners, but it is a bit time consuming process to make a tutorial on hdr, there are hundred out there already but if you have some knowledge in photoshop though I think those references I made can help you get the result. You can use those tools for any concept. The results sometimes are really great :) thank you my friend for your support and your contribution to the arts thread!
