If Bees Worked at NASA; a self-mastered album

in art •  7 years ago  (edited)

I grew up in a rather musical household. My parents raised us as conservative Christians; the church we attended was strictly a capella and my father has always been able to hold a tune and play various instruments, so my brothers and I learned how to read music and sing at a young age. Naturally, we all took band in school; my oldest brother played clarinet and sax, the middle one played trombone, and I played trumpet.

Fast forward many years and the trombone player has learned guitar and drums and I've written some material. We lived in a place together that was kind of a party house, so we wound up with some recording gear and amps. We jammed mostly, but I'm a nerd with a good computer so I taught myself the basics of operating a digital audio workstation. We recorded a few low-fi songs but they've since been lost.

Fast forward a few more years and we've moved to Denver. My brother lives a few minutes away and my neighbor is a musician. When my brother would come over, we'd record him on guitar and digital drums, and at other times I'd record my friend on guitar and acoustic percussion. I did vocals and some keys on both of their recordings, but they never recorded anything together. I mastered a few of the recordings and released them on bandcamp as a pay-what-you-want album. Here's If Bees Worked at NASA.

The album cover is a picture of a piece that I designed and 3D printed. It lights up and rotates.

I wonder if anyone will be able to tell which songs feature my brother and which include my friend, so please make your guesses in the comments. And upvote and follow for more content like this.
