I was training as a photographer and went to visit Southall in London. I was in paradise, surrounded by cultural diversity, the sights and smells amazed me, shops full of colourful fabric, strange fruit and veg, jewellery and of course the restaurants. I didn't know where to begin or how to depict to me was such an exotic place. I decided to sit in front of a telephone box that reminded me of a temple and photo passers by. I did this for several days and this is the result.

It's not so much the location as the people that was interesting to me, each with their individual journeys and stories captured in time.
