I painted these 6 images originally for Steemit, for different contests mostly, over a period of about 4 months. You can find them in my blog.
Today I uploaded them to ArtStation, a website for artists to keep their portfolios, probably the most prestigious digital art website these days. A couple hours later I went back there to check and found all 6 of them on the Trending page! (I applied the filters "Digital 2D" and "Characters" as you can see. In these categories alone there are probably hundreds of uploads every day.)
I wish it was that easy for me to get on the Trending page here. :)

I think Steemit as an art platform still has looooooooooooooooong roads, in terms of being able to actually recognize talents and mark them as noteworthy (or "trending")... Too much obfuscation in terms of what is actually quality contents in Steemit at the moment :(
Current Steemit's arts contained under "Trending" is.... uh... is no where near looking respectable for a top page of a blogging platform, sad to say!
But, I'm sure if we all contribute continuously and steadily try to promote real quality and real talents, changes are possible? :D

Well, ArtStation is kind of primarily focused on art, and people there are there for good art, so definitely not hard for someone of your calibre to trend XD
steem on the other hand well there's everything here so it will be a bit of a harder slog unfortunately :)

Thanks, but there are many guys with higher calibre on ArtStation, today must have been a slow day, and I certainly won't last long there... this was a fluke that's never happened to me before. :)
Having said that, it would be easier if we could use more than 1 keyword to sort our feeds here on Steemit. Like for instance "Art" "Painting"... or if Photographers could stop using Art as a tag... because when I filter for Art, half of it is photos. Wonder what they would say if we painters started using "Photography" tag?
Half of the rest is not Art at all, but talking about Life, Steemit or Crypto.

one thing i don''t agree with: Photography CAN be art... but paintings can not be photography ;-)
I believe paintings deserve more credits than photographs (most of the time) even though i am a photographer :-)

It's true photography is art, but it's not about the definitions here, it's about the tags, which I think should be considered purely as abstract folders or directories. For instance, let's call "Photography" tag X and "Art" tag Y.
In this case X is profitable for people who post photos, and Y is also profitable for them. But for people who post paintings and drawings, only Y can be used, not X. So it's slightly unfair. :)

Those types of filters are a thing that is being requested/suggested over and over and over again. As far as I know, still waiting for a front end to implement it.
Aww photography is totally art! They have to think about lighting and composition too :D I think I get where you're coming from though, I spent years and years on dA and there were several people that kept putting their work in the 3d gallery even though it was totally and completely not 3d. That was the beginning of the end of browsing tags and trending pages for me.

Congrats for the artstation top! I have never tried this platform but I see it's mostly digital and lot of concept art, right? I think my watercolor stuff will look fade compared to all these flashy colors :D
Interesting replies in here, I agree totaly that the feed should have more controls, like more tags indeed but also favorite pages.
Many things to improve indeed to really attain that famous "quality".
I think when more really big artists and musicians will be on Steemit, it'll explode and while the competition might be tougher I am quite sure it'll only benefit us.

About steemit's filter, that is true; it would be better if the posts in the art category would be more organized or more specified.
although part of the problem also can be found by the several interpretations of the word "art", since for most of the people "art" can be anything with creativity with it; and you can find people crafting, writing or taking photos and using the tag "art" (making that category a mess with different kind of posts)
Unlike artstation, where there are just artists in the digital media :/ , places like this is hard to convince people what tag is really used in which cases.
That one, and the uses of bots instead of an objective and professional view of the post.
Personally, i use the discord's categories to see the posts, since there is a better filter.

well, no categories, they are the tags ^^' , there are some that are predetermined in the tag list on the steemit page

Steemit as others have said tends to reward people who invest more time into the platform as opposed to people who produce quality content. It's sad but the platform is still growing and I think it will improve with time.
