Reims Cathedral (Notre-Dame de Reims)
The cathedral replaced an older church, destroyed by fire in 1211, that was built on the site of the basilica where Clovis I was baptized. The cathedral was built in the high gothic style.
The interior of the cathedral is 138.75 m long, 30 m wide in the nave, and 38 m high in the centre
There are also 2 300 statues which also contribute to the beauty of the cathedral: statue-columns, arches (cut stone), decorative figures, tabernacles, indoor and outdoor figures and the famous "The Smiling Angel"
Is a stone sculpture of the cathedral of Reims which was carved between 1236 and 1245. This figure is in the north portal of the west facade of the cathedral.
On the occasion of the Holiday season, the façade of Reims cathedral is magically enhanced by a visual and audio scenography: the Rêve de Couleurs light show
