I love herons! My husband can’t stand them. We have a pond in front of our house and he constantly scares off the blue heron when he sees it by clapping loudly. Fred, as we call him, squawks loudly and flys to the other side of the pond, and continues his feast of the fish in our pond.
Fred was my inspiration for this picture. The guy was a vintage photo that came from my husband’s grandparents and the house was my grandparent’s. The landscape was one of my photos of a field with hay bales that I warped in my IColorama app.
I imported the photos into my Procreate app on my iPad and combined them by erasing parts and blending and drawing new parts. Here is a video of the process.
If you see parts of the video that it seems that nothing is going on, that is when I am making minute adjustments and additions. Then I saved it and opened it in an app called Distressed FX and added a filter to unify the layers and also a tree which is one of the features of Distressed FX.
You can see the difference without the filter.
I brought it back into Procreate and added a shadow under the tree.
Welcome to my Fantastical world!
This is freakin cool. It's like Poe meets Monty Python meets Henry Selick. Excellent work, @stillwatersart!
