Vanitas: the real nature of desires, painted on a canvas.

I've always been fascinated by the trend of Vanitas paintings. It's amazing how the stillness of the objects can give such a good representation of life and death in a constant motion. Everything we covet and everything we possess, our experiences and achievements, loses its value to the realization of mortality. But, at the same time, can make us appreciate the fleeting nature of our existence.
