I have been AWOL the last few days because I have been working my arse off. I have 5 new coloring books coming out this weekend.
For those who may not know, I am a grayscale coloring book author. Grayscale coloring is a relatively small subgenre of the adult coloring world. Colorists color "gray scaled" or desaturated photographs instead of line art. It's much like tinting old photographs or films. The natural shading of the image creates a more life like finished page, as opposed to line art.
For example:

The original artwork is a 3D rendered original character of mine done in DAZ Studio4 and post worked in Photoshop CS5. I then took that artwork, desaturated the color, fiddled with the contrast and gamma/exposure until I had a grayscaled image that could be colored. The colored page is included along with the Crayola colored pencils I used. I use a technique that I developed using baby oil to blend the colored pencil once the picture has been colored. This creates an almost oil pastel effect that I like.

Yes you can @jpinka, give it a try!! It's very therapeutic. You'll get better at it as you go along. Trust me, i learn new things every day to improve my coloring techniques. :)
Tabz has other books out that aren't gray scale. Just search tabz Jones on amazon

Have faith! I've found some great tutorials for grayscale coloring on YouTube. I always send people to Nikki Burnette's channel. She does the tutorials so well, I don't think there is anything I could add =)

I completely get the problem with the dolls. I had a heck of a time curating photos that didn't look creepy. My main issues was wondering whether to include the clowns or not. They are like a double whammy. Creepy old dolls, and clowns LOL
