Art Attack #172: Ahegao Chibi Stickers?

Hey Steemit!

We're back again with another Art Attack! If you're new to the series, this is where I share my drawings and the process behind them. A behind-the-scenes look at my artwork, if you will. This is not to say that I'm very good at art, or that I'm a professional in any way. In fact this is the opposite, and serves as a reminder to how I first started, and lets me track my progress too!

I've been streaming on Twitch for quite some time now, and it's been really fun trying new games and meeting new people, playing games with chat and all that good stuff. I'm really fortunate to have built a small community now and we have lots of fun together!

So for my birthday back in September, I thought I'd try something new since Twitch has a promotion on subscriptions every September (they call it Subtember). I wanted to do something for Subtember and for charity so I tried my hand at doing a subathon, which is a type of livestream where every time a streamer receives a subscription, more time is added to a descending timer.

In general, I don't like the idea of subathons or anything similar since it feels like pressuring chat to donate which I'm still not comfortable with. I always emphasise that I'm just happy if people want to spend time on my channel, and being there is good enough so donations and subs are unnecessary. But since we're doing this for a good cause I figured it's worth it.

Since it's my first time doing a subathon I couldn't really think of any good rewards. I think what most streamers do is they just have cumulative sub goals but I thought having individual rewards would be better. The whole idea actually came from me wanting to do a graffiti wall with all the contributors names actually. And that's exactly what I did!

But as a reward, I also did lots of art and drew stickers for all those who contributed 5 subs or more. I obviously didn't expect people to drop that many but I was very wrong. The response was astounding and I ended up amassing quite a bit of art debt.

Anyway, I was super into drawing stickers at the time and figured I'd share them here over the next few posts! For the chibi head stickers, I had templates for the donors to choose from so they could build their chibi essentially.

For one of the biggest donors, Chai193 (who is also one of my mods), I gave him 4 chibi heads and he wanted 2 boys and 2 girls, all with an ahegao face. I think he let me choose the hair for the girls while he chose 2 styles for the boys. So I drew this for one of the girls:

He didn't really have any opinions on colour or whatever so I just made the decision and we end up with a pretty spunky girl with a ponytail!

I actually had the idea for stickers when I saw this instagram reel showing how easy it was to get that clean sticker outline. I wanted to try it out and it worked like a charm!

For the other girl sticker, Chai wanted a braided hair style which I thought was cute.

I thought a redhead would be nice so I chose orange for the hair and it turned out quite pretty!

Here's the timelapse for the girls:

For the boys, he picked some pretty emo-looking hair styles that reminded me of old-school anime.

Since his favourite colour is red I figured I'd give them red hair to make it even more anime-like.

That's when I realised that there's not a lot of good skin tones that go with red hair but I thought it still looked okay.

I think this one was a little too pale but I wanted the blush to be seen.

Chai said he liked them so I guess it was good enough! Here's the timelapse:

I really enjoyed doing these stickers and was more than glad to do them for all those contributed! There's a lot more to go so I'll be sharing them over the next few posts!

Thanks so much for reading!
