El fin de semana hice este maquillaje para un amigo que es miembro de una banda en la que todos coordinaron irse a su presentación con media cara pintada con un clásico motivo calaveresco.
Si ven algunos detalles es porque el me llamó a último momento... Lo normal... Sin embargo, a pesar de haber estado muy apurados todo quedo genial. Casi no dio tiempo para hacer unas buenas fotos pero igualmente quiero compartir el proceso.
This weekend I made this makeup for a friend who is a member of a band in which everyone coordinated to go to his presentation with a half face painted with a classic skull motif.
If you see some details it's because he called me at the last moment... The normal... However, despite having been very rushed everything was great. I almost didn't have time to take some good photos but I still want to share the process.
El primer paso siempre es el boceto/delineado, tratando de obedecer un poco la anatomia de la persona a quien se maquilla, obviamente sin ahondar mucho en el tema pero es muy importante, al menos al maquillar calaveras, que se marque bien a las facciones de la cara la cuenca del ojo, el pómulo y la linea de la dentadura junto con la mandibula.
The first step is always the sketch/delineation, trying to obey a little the anatomy of the person to whom makeup is applied, obviously without delving much into the subject but it is very important, at least when making up skulls, that the factions of the face are well marked the eye socket, the cheekbone and the line of the denture along with the jaw.
Luego empece a agregar detalles y a rellenar espacios sin prestarle mucha atención al delineado pues al final siempre debe retocarse nuevamente.
Then begin to add details and fill in spaces without paying much attention to the delineation because at the end it must always be retouched again.
Luego de colocar todo el color blanco pasé a todo lo que es color negro, es decir, delineado y sombras. Puede que todo se vea un poco desprolijo pero eso se corregirá al final. Ese maquillaje debería durar al menos una hora en hacerse y estuvimos haciendolo como treinta minutos nada más.
After placing all the white color I went on to everything that is black color, i.e. delineation and shadows. Everything may look a little messy but that will be corrected at the end. That makeup should last at least an hour to make up and we were just doing it for about thirty minutes.
El costo de los materiales utilizados para este maquillaje fue de un 1 US$. Así es, solo un Dolar Estadonidense, fuimos a una de esas tiendas de "todo por 1 dolar" y conseguimos un pequeño kit de maquilaje para niños, con una base blanca, una marrón, tres lápices (rojo, amarillo y negro) que usamos para delinear y detallar, una esponja y una toallita. La verdad es que gastamos 5$ porque compramos además dos lapices de maquillaje para chicas pero eran de muy mala calidad, terminamos botandolos y perdiendo el dinero así que no vale.
El resto del maquilaje lo complementamos con maquillaje de chicas, sombra roja y negra, lapiz de ojos color blanco, también delineador de ojos liquido.
The cost of the materials used for this makeup was 1 US$. That's right, just one US dollar, we went to one of those "1 dollar shops" and we got a children's makeup kit, with a white base, a brown base, three pencils (red, yellow and black) that we used to outline and detail, a sponge and a towelette. The truth is that we spent $5 because we also bought two makeup pencils for girls but they were of very poor quality, we ended up throwing them away and losing the money so it does not count.
The rest of the makeup is complemented with girls makeup, red and black eyeshadow, white eye pencil, black liquid eyeliner.

Finalmente, lo mejor que pude hacer con las fotos en un par de minutos antes de que el llegara tarde a su presentación y nosotros a una reunion... *¡Voila!

Well, this turned out great, in spite of the lack of preparation time, the cheaper stuff to use and the time you actually had available to put him together. Pretty amazing really. Sometimes it works best like that, when you really just have to work off of instinct and adrenaline.
I like how it's only a section of the front and side, too. It actually makes the skull part stand out more because you can see the skin lines.
So, this it sounds like this is something you end up doing a lot for your friend, or are you talking about doing last minute things for him in general, not just face painting. :)

Well we (themonkeyzuelans) are really responsible even with the less important things but we can not say that about the rest of our fellow Venezuelans, we don't really know how is the people from other countries but in Venezuela the last minute stuffs are just as normal as being up to an hour late for important meetings, flights or even the cinema haha and pf course our pictured friend here is not an exception😂😂😂

My wife is from Mexico, and so I can tell you being late for a lot of things (except for work and maybe school), happens there too. :) In fact, I've known quite a few people from Mexico all the way down into South America and time is not a fixed concept for most of them. It can be stretched. :)

This is insanely awesome, man! You really are great with what you do. I love how it looks, a bit minimal, a little touch of colors, not too much stuff going on yet still "halloweeny" and beautiful.
