I was doodling in my notebook, attempting to come up with something worth putting onto my Redbubble account and decided to try and doodle a sloth. I accidently made him look a bit surprised and thought, "I wonder what this dudes so surprised about?" Well what do internet weirdoes love besides cartoon sloths? Illustrations of cute donuts and cupcakes and other sweets. And, well a donut hooking up with a cupcake would be pretty surprising.
I did that quick sketch and liked it so much I decided to go to work on advancing my Inkscape skills. I've only worked with Adobe Illustrator a looong time ago so even if I tried to jump back into that I'd have trouble.
I first got the sloth done. And decided to play around a little with his color.
Then I did the inking and coloring for the little donut and cupcake couple.
And, I played around with the sloths design (added the all important eye patches, how could I have forgotten?) And, of course, combined:
Overall I liked the way these turned out. They are a bit flat and not as lively as I'd want, but it was good to finally get something I liked out of Inkscape. I've got a redbubble store and if I ever sell anything there I might push the work into other shops like redbubble. Right now I've got a lot of dumb barely trying stuff up, just to get myself into the habit of creating and pushing my stuff out there. I think a lot of my hold up in life/work/art has been my perfectionism. Nothing is ever good enough so I might as well not put it out there. So, now in order to undo that issue I'm forcing myself to create content and push it out before I can stop myself or get distracted by something else. Maybe something will come of it, maybe not.
