Original Art Photography Series by @velimir #61 'The Window'

The name of this art photograph is: 'The Window'

A window symbolizes many things. The main might be the freedom. It can also stand as a metaphor for passing from inner worlds to the outside one and also a few other meanings. However, in this photograph, we do not see the window. We only assume that it exists behind almost closed, full of holes, and quite ruined shutters bearing lots of patina.

The darkest element of the image reveals the key information. It is "almost closed". Without the shadow under the left shutter, everyone would assume that the shutters are completely closed. The shadow reveals that they are not! This adds to the overall mystery, also empowered by the greenish-bluish frame. Very small white elements are quite hard to see but nonetheless, they create an additional element working well with the dark shapes all over both shutters.

The composition is slightly unbalanced by positioning subject closer to the top of the image. This is done purposely. It helps the dark shadow, bearing the vital information, receive more attention.

The mutual relationship between lines and areas play an important role in this image, as well as the colour scheme giving a strong, almost circular accent to the middle part.

Enjoy!

Does it raise any thoughts or feelings for you?

Magnificent. I love Photo art. In fact I love art in any form. Art is the language of the soul. I too love windows.
"Almost Closed" or "Hesitantly Opened" . It depends how you see it. :) The light focus outside and the darkness inside evokes many thoughts. To me it is like a "Window of Escape to Freedom" . The sense of someone vulnerable and tender, stepping out of the old creaking window, into light, after trauma is palpable. Truly an amazing Photo. ... Upvoted and followed :)

Thank you. Love the way you see it. "Hesitantly open" fits even better ;-)

😊😊❤ You are most welcome, @velimir . And thank you for the awesome photo art .

Oh it raises thoughts alright. It's like a window into hell!

To me this image is inviting, giving me the urge to peer inside and to know the secrets held behind the shutters. Fantastic photo. :)

You'd like to find out what lies behing the gates of hell? ;-)

Lol! It's all about perception right? I see it as intriguing rather than scary :D

anything we isolate and put a frame around becomes more than the thing-in-itself. We have already made a statement - art is selection from life

Yes, very true.

Fantasticno!
