I’m burning the midnight oil tonight! I just finished these delightful goldfish studies and I couldn’t resist sharing them! I’m going to try to do at least one animal study every other day.
It took me awhile to get started with my studies. I’m more productive with white noise in the background but I wasn’t in the mood for music tonight. My Take flight sketch from earlier in the day took me awhile to complete because I was watching a fun show. Before I started sketching, I picked a random anime on Crunchyroll then crossed my fingers and left it on auto play. The series was kind of boring so I guess I lucked out.
The sketches began to appear after a few light strokes. I’ll have to share the video of the recorded time lapse later. It’s pretty fun to watch. Maybe I’ll finally try uploading something on dtube.

Then I decided to color in the eyes. I was planning on leaving it here but I recalled everyone in my last post, expressing their desire for more color in my sketches... so, here you go! 🎨
I randomly slapped the colors on in a carefree fashion and I’m quite pleased with the outcome. I don’t mind coloring as long as it’s not taking up too much of my time. It turned out light and dreamy, typical of my style. I really like the grumpy looking fish in the bottom left. Fish are so fun to draw!
Hahahahah! The grumpy one is awesome. The shocked goldfish is my favorite. It seems to be saying "How dare you?!" LOL

Once you make one- they tend to become addicting. Haha I try to stay away so that gifs don't eat up all my days. Honestly, I could just spend weeks making simple gifs. But I have to prioritize creative practice into other things now.

I had goldfish like this when I was a kid actually- and a few with the HUGE eyes on the sides of their heads- if you're looking to expand your gold fish skillz and are taking requests I'd love to see those hehe, I think they're called telescopes

Thank you! While drawing there I was reminded of the huge pompadours you’d see in anime sometimes.
So I would image this while sketching. It made it really fun. I actually almost drew that type of goldfish with the huge cheeks and some with huge eyes. Definitely on my list for next time!

HA! That little round grumpy fellow is pretty cute. I also really like the fanned out fins on the top right one. The way you sort of splashed the color on there is very pretty, almost like loose watercolor. I love the softness of your drawings/paintings.

The show I was watching was called “Hitori No Shita - The Outcast” I like the supernatural genre but the mix between zombies and martial arts in this series has thrown me off.
