My Korean hibiscus in pencil

in art •  8 years ago  (edited)

I have a drawing group every Friday, and we call it the artist challenge group.

The challenge was the National flower of the Korea - a pink hibiscus flower.

Total time to outline and color in was 1 hour. (the length of the group)

Reference was a photo found on google.

=)

I think i'm getting better at pencil drawings.

Looks really nice!:) I have a wrong luck with coloured pencils, just can't understand how they work:) Uploaded and followed, hope to see more art of yours!:)

blending is your friend - lay down light colors first with a pass just for coverage.
then deepen color with the same colored pencil (just go over the area more), and then go over with darker colors - keep simple lighting in mind - always left or always right. =)

Tryed to do so:) It works in soft materials for me, like pastel, but pencils stay terra incognita:)

Beautiful drawing! Looking forward to more!

definitely improving with pencils. Shading & highlights look nice.
when you try the smudge tool, its just a stick of tightly wrapped paper that you sharpen like a pencil, blending takes on a whole new dimension.
But the smudge tool can make a mess pretty quick, just like in photoshop.
use it lightly.

I dont use a smudge stick at all actually.. i just use the pencil to smoosh pencil around.
